There is a significant trait at the basis of the construction of Italian identity, which is aimed at the exaltation of a classical past and its glorious splendor. A trait that disregards the reading of history. A presence. A sort of figure, always ready to perform, who trains in the gym of official narrations. A culturist of traditions. A sort of monument perpetually in the process of “restoration”. A ghost that wanders among the ruins of some auctoritas (autority), always updated and defended, or a priest who perpetually celebrates its cult. This sign, this stain, sometimes takes the form of an animal, laboriously climbing among the branches of pretentious descent. Other times you recognize it as a stick, a truncheon, beating the tree of power. AMOЯ by Salvo Lombardo was born from the desire to investigate the concept of power. What is power? Or rather, how does power manifest itself? What is its micro-physics? How does power move and transform bodies? What are its articulations? What are its official representations, its genealogies, and what, above all, are the counter narratives that react to its figure today? AMOЯ, moreover, is an ambivalent locution; a word that returns to us the image of something looking in the mirror. AMOЯ is a palindrome of Rome. Rome was not built in a single day.

BIO
Salvo Lombardo is performer, choreographer and director. Over the years he has deepened the interstices between dance, theater and visual arts, creating together with his working group Chiasma, recognized by MIBACT as a Dance Production Company “Under 35”. Until 2015 he was co-founder and director of Clinica Mammut. In 2015-2016 he was resident choreographer at Anghiari Dance Hub. In 2017 he was guest choreographer at Aura Dance Theatre company in Kaunas (LIT) for which he created the performance Twister and began his collaboration with Oriente Occidente Festival. In 2018 he won the call for choreographic residencies Lavanderia a Vapore 3.0 by Piemonte dal Vivo, he worked on the project L’esemplare capovolto and on the creation of the show Excelsior. In 2019 he was engaged in the creation project Bodies Moemories for the Attakkalari Dance Company of Bangalore (India), as part of Crossing the Sea partnership under the call Boarding Pass Plus and participates in the NID – New Italian Dance Platform, with the project Opacity. Also in 2019, he founded and co-curated with Viviana Gravano and Giulia Grechi Resurface_festival of post-colonial gazes in Rome and is, together with Silvia Albanese, the creator of the Under 35 Italian Alliance, a network of companies working in the field of dance and performance, aimed at promoting and disseminating their work abroad.
