BABY I’M DREAMIN
Francesco Michele Laterza
➣ Platform CROSS Residence
Baby I’m dreamin’ is a performative project based on the idea of dreams in the different meanings it can have. The performer realizes his dream of presenting himself to an audience as a singer and at the same time his songs are built starting from the texts of interviews conducted in a small community of the territory of Verbania on the theme of the dream.
The dream is understood as aspiration, nocturnal entertainment, nightmare, desire and fear. The work is divided into two phases: a first in which informal interviews are carried out to different components of the social fabric present on the territory of Verbania and recorded; a second phase, in which the material is transcribed and the outcome will be a text that will be transformed into songs and musical interludes through the help of a musician.
The words taken from the interviews become ready-made material on which to build the performance and at the same time highly variable element through which to measure and eventually destroy the singing composition strategies. The project involves the collaboration with a composer musician who will accompany the performance live.
