Ritual III Whisper
Stefania Alos Pedretti
Sacro Monte di Orta San Giulio and Ameno, primavera 2024
Ritual III Whisper was born in response to the exploration of the Sacro Monte of Orta and the nature surrounding its promontory, as well as to the myths of the island of San Giulio liberated by the saint from dragons and snakes, with the sole use of his words. Alos’ will is to overturn the idea of wilderness and domesticated, as the first is symbolized by the dragon’s exile –the traces are to be found in the places narrated by the legend. Starting from the study of the dichotomies “domesticated-savage” and “sacred-profane” Alos undertakes an outdoor workshop for children and teens. How can we discover new ways of using voice to convey emotions? The workshop aims to explore the relationship we establish with natural elements and ourselves, focusing on the relationship with vocal expressiveness understood as singing, whispering, silence, breathing, bodily, and physical expression. Through group activities, explorations, ritual inventions, and low-fi sound recordings, we aim to discover nature by going beyond the idea of a benign element by re-discovering it as a wild and unknown entity.
The project opened to the public with a performance in the public park of Ameno.

BIO
Stefania Alos Pedretti is a musician, performer and artist active since 1998. After a long journey in the italian and international indie-rock and noise music scene, Alos work today transcends the boundaries between the performing arts, integrating experimental music, performance, improvisation, figurative art, installation, and video art, with the aim of actively engaging the audience in a show capable of a strong sensory experience. Her practice starts from a queer transfeminist positioning and struggles for the clearance and acceptance of the other. In particular with the project Alos Pedretti investigates the female figure in relation to her role within society. Since 2015, she has collaborated in director Markus Öhrn’s project Azdora (Santarcangelo dei Teatri), which features a group of women housewives from Romagna in the creation of a metal band. From 2017 to 2019, she also collaborated with the Santarcangelo Festival as music curator together with Francesca Morello. Among historical musical projects, from 1998 to 2006 she is part of Allun, while since 2000, together with Bruno Dorella she has been part of OVO, an Italian duo at the center of the post-rock, industrial-sludge, and avant-doom scenes.
