Born in 2012 within Percorpi Visionari, Villaggio d’Artista, festival-residency for artists that takes place on the Lake Maggiore thanks to a virtuous program Interreg ITA-CH, this year moves to Verbania.
The project, directed by Antonella Cirigliano, is supported by the Municipality of Verbania, the Cariplo Foundation, the CRT Foundation, the Piedmont Region and collaborates with numerous partners and sponsors.
Villaggio d’Artista combines activities of promotion, training and production of projects related to contemporary performing languages (circus, street arts, installation, interactive performance, video art, music, etc.) on the territory of Lake Maggiore. The project always includes the involvement of the local public.
Villaggio d’artista is home to CROSS, a residential and community training course that aims to support contemporary art and bring the public closer to new languages, both through specific formations and through the vision of shows and performances. but also thanks to an important award aimed at contemporary performance. The curatorship of CROSS is entrusted to Tommaso Sacchi.
Villaggio d’Artista will take place from 21 June to 27 September 2015 and is proposed as a widespread festival, anticipated by the Showcase, three events that have met the favour of the public and operators, held in Verbania, in the beautiful setting of Villa Giulia, in the months of March, April and May 2015. The project was born to enhance, but more properly, to redefine the chosen places, contextualizing them through innovative artistic paths and interventions.
